Buffalo, NY--Univera Healthcare was selected as a winner in the 17th annual National Health information Awards™. This program recognizes the nation’s best consumer health information programs and materials.

Univera Healthcare’s Green & Clean initiative. received a merit Award for the Total Health Information Program category.  The winning entries were chosen from more than 1,000 entries judged by a national panel of health information experts. 

Fun 2B Fit is a school-based, healthy lifestyle initiative.  The focus is on second, third and fourth graders and their families by encouraging them to adopt a healthier lifestyle by trying new foods, increasing physical activity, making healthier food choices at the supermarket and preparing meals as a family. Since October 2005, over 21,000 area children at 100 local schools in Western New York have participated in the Fun 2B Fit program.

“We are honored to accept this national recognition and are committed to improving the quality of life in our community,” said president Art Wingerter.

The awards program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials.
