Buffalo, NY - Univera Healthcare's Fun 2B Fit® program received the prestigious Community Leadership Award from America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), which is considered to be the leading national health plan organization.

Fun 2B Fit is a school-based, healthy lifestyle initiative focused on second, third and fourth graders and their families -- encouraging them to adopt a healthier lifestyle by trying new foods, increasing physical activity, making healthier food choices at the supermarket and preparing meals as a family.

"Health plans all across the country are reaching out in their communities to improve health education and expand access to high quality health care," said Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of AHIP. "This year's award winners stood out for their unique approach to serving their communities and provide examples to be emulated across the industry."

14,000 Western New York students at more than 50 schools have participated in Univera Healthcare's Fun 2B Fit, which is being offered to schools in the Western New York area. Fun 2B Fit program partners include Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., Body Shaping By Sandy, the Healthy Community Alliance, and Lifetime Health Medical Group.
