Univera Healthcare's Fun 2B Fit Program
Checklist of Next Steps

  1. PTA Presentation/Parent Orientation:
    PTA Meeting: Schedule us to present to the parents prior to the program launch (20 minutes)
    Parent Invitations: Sample invitations are available on our website to encourage parents to attend the PTA meeting. (fun2bfit.univerahealthcare.com)
    Audio Visual Equipment: Screen and projector for use with our power point.
    Pre and Post Surveys: Distribute to parents via paper or on-line.
    Photo Release: Parents need to sign a photo release form.

  2. School Contact Person:
    Program Overview: To teachers in grades 2-4 (20minutes) if necessary
    Note: Include art teacher for recipe box project
    Evaluations: Teachers must complete a brief one page evaluation
    Photo Release Form: Send home to parents and return to Univera Healthcare
    Pre and Post Surveys: Administer brief pre and post surveys to children and return to Univera Healthcare

  3. Food Service:
    Cafeteria Manager: Need buy in from the cafeteria manager to prepare and distribute food for the taste testing.
    Cost of food: Cafeteria service, PTA, or school must fund the cost of the food for the taste testing (portions can be placed into salad dressing containers).
    Lunch Line: Food service can offer the "Fun 2B Fit" items on the lunch line after the taste testing if they choose and publicize in the school district newsletter and on the school website. Parents are aware of these healthier options and have received the recipe cards at home.

  4. Scheduling Fun 2B Fit:

    Grade 2: Taste Testing “It's Fun 2 Try Health Foods”
    • Schedule an art class to make the recipe box out of a shoe box
    • 12 taste testing sessions for 10 minutes each
    • Teachers distribute one recipe card per child after each taste testing
    • Univera Healthcare staff will distribute a mini chef apron at the first taste testing for each child to wear at home when they cook with their parents
    • Teachers can download certificates of completion for the children from our website-optional
    Grade 3: “Why it's Fun 2B Fit”
    • 45 minutes - one session
    • Location: Gym, library, or cafeteria (need a space for the children to move)
    • Distribute parent tool kits, which also contain the children's healthy activity planners and stopwatches
    • Teachers can download certificates of completion for the children from our website-optional
    Grade 4: “Wegmans Eat Well Live Well Tour”
    • Small group setting (30 students maximum)
    • The tour is two hours and is based on the food pyramid
    • Local Wegmans location convenient to the school
    • Call 1-800-Wegmans ext 4760 or go to wegmans.com to schedule (Please let Wegmans know that your school is participating in the Fun 2B Fit)
    • Teachers can download certificates of completion for the children from our website-optional
